CLUB HISTORY

The Holdfast Bay Bowls Club commenced its bowls operations in 1926 and the Glenelg Croquet Club joined in 2002, to become the Holdfast Bay Bowls and Croquet Club. In 2017 the club changed its name to Club Holdfast for promotional and trading purposes but still retained its identity. The club has grown to become recognised as a premier club in South Australia and home to champions.

Club Holdfast is a strong organisation built upon the hard work and dedication of its members both past and present.

Open bowls tournaments began in 1961 and have been run at the club ever since.

The club has won numerous Pennants, and produced Australian and State representatives (seniors and juniors), and our croquet players have won many State Pennants.

Our greens and clubrooms have hosted many State organised events eg State Championships, Men's and Women's Country Week events, National Bowls events, National Carnivals (RSL, Master Builders, Master Butchers etc). The croquet facility hosted a national croquet event in early 2000’s.

In the past we have shared hosting of World Bowls (2012), Asia Pacific Championships, National U/18 Championships.

To be the most respected community sports club in metropolitan Adelaide with a focus on financially securing the club, and to ensure members get full enjoyment of club facilities.

OUR MISSION

To manage, develop and promote quality sport and life experiences for the general community, providing comradery and social connection and to include all genders to have the same equality for all.

The club offers a warm and friendly environment to all visitors as well as providing an ideal venue for social and corporate functions.
